1 Charge Against Brentwood Man Withdrawn, 4 Others Waived for County Court
And 16 other updates from Judge Bova's Wallace Building office.
The following results are from recent hearings held in the Wallace Building office of Magistrate John N. Bova of District Court 05-2-18:
- Baldwin Borough police charged Samuel James Fullerton, 31, of Beechdale Street in Brentwood Borough, with driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a prohibited weapon and failure to notify police of an accident on Dec. 19. Bova granted the withdrawal of the weapon charge on Feb. 19, but the remaining charges were waived for Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas, where Fullerton will face them on April 8.
- Baldwin Borough police charged Douglas Patrick Martin, 49, of Pleasant Street in South Park Township, with DUI on Oct. 12. Martin's Dec. 11 hearing before Bova was waived, and he faced that charge at the Allegheny County Courthouse on Jan. 30. His case will now be part of a March 18 docket conference. That conference should result in the next legal step for Martin's charge.
- Baldwin police charged Steve Gault, 53, of Pinchtown Road in Baldwin Borough, with DUI on May 13. Gault's Oct. 23 hearing before Bova was waived, and he faced that charge at the Allegheny County Courthouse on Dec. 11. His case was then part of a Jan. 30 docket conference, where he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to complete a 90-day individualized program plan, 18 months of probation and a drug and alcohol evaluation, and was fined $1,500.
- Baldwin police charged Luke Benedict Royer Jr., 32, of Woodhill Drive in Munhall Borough, with DUI on Oct. 13. Royer's Dec. 11 hearing before Bova was waived, and he faced that charge at the Allegheny County Courthouse on Jan. 30, where he was scheduled for a March 1 pretrial conference.
- Baldwin police charged Robert Palmer Zinkand, 44, of Frederick Street in Baldwin Borough, with DUI on Aug. 29. Zinkand's Oct. 23 hearing before Bova was waived, and he faced that charge at the Allegheny County Courthouse on Dec. 11. His case was then part of a Feb. 4 docket conference, where he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to four days of confinement.
- Baldwin police charged Thomas Murphy, 20, of Edgeridge Road in Baldwin Township, with underage drinking on Dec. 8. The charge was eventually changed to disorderly conduct, and Bova found Murphy guilty of disorderly conduct on Feb. 4 and fined him approximately $350.
- Baldwin police charged Mario Joseph Germany, 24, of Cedricton Street in Pittsburgh's Carrick neighborhood, with DUI on Oct. 18. Germany's Dec. 18 hearing before Bova was waived, and he faced that charge at the Allegheny County Courthouse on Feb. 5. He will now have a March 1 pretrial conference.
- Baldwin police charged Tolani Jameil Humphrey, 21, of Madeline Street in Carrick, with DUI on Nov. 29. Humphrey's Feb. 5 hearing before Bova was waived, and he will face that charge at the Allegheny County Courthouse on March 25.
- Baldwin police charged Christopher James Laplace, 20, of Glowood Drive in Whitehall Borough, with DUI (underage) on Dec. 8. Laplace's Feb. 5 hearing before Bova was waived, and he will face that charge at the Allegheny County Courthouse on March 25.
- Baldwin police charged Jacob John Hannah, 22, of Dara Drive in South Park, with DUI on Nov. 10. Hannah's Dec. 18 hearing before Bova was waived, and he faced that charge at the Allegheny County Courthouse on Feb. 5. His case will now be part of a March 20 docket conference. That conference should result in the next legal step for Hannah's charge.
- Baldwin police charged Daniel Raymond Rock, 30, of Parkfield Street in Carrick, with DUI on Dec. 8. Rock's Feb. 5 hearing before Bova was waived, and he will face that charge at the Allegheny County Courthouse on March 25.
- Baldwin police charged Alisha Naomie Symcheck, 30, of Mowery Lane in Deemston Borough, with DUI on March 4, 2012. Symcheck's May 8 hearing before Bova was waived, and she faced that charge at the Allegheny County Courthouse on Sept. 26, where she was granted a Feb. 8, 2013, accelerated rehabilitative disposition (ARD) hearing. She was then sentenced to 12 months of probation.
- Baldwin police charged Jeffrey Krause, 52, of Wallace Avenue in Bethel Park, with DUI on Aug. 5. Krause's Oct. 23 hearing before Bova was waived, and he faced that charge at the Allegheny County Courthouse on Dec. 11, where he was granted a Feb. 8 ARD hearing. He was then sentenced to six months of probation.
- Baldwin police charged Justin Andrew Ronczka, 23, of Elwell Avenue in West Mifflin Borough, with DUI on Jan. 5. Ronczka's Feb. 26 hearing before Bova was waived, and he will face that charge at the Allegheny County Courthouse on April 15.
- Baldwin police charged Robert Anthony Hassett, 54, of East Agnew Avenue in Carrick, with DUI on Jan. 7. Hassett's Feb. 26 hearing before Bova was waived, and he will face that charge at the Allegheny County Courthouse on April 15.
- Baldwin police charged Bryan Michael Dettlinger, 29, of Muldowney Avenue in Pittsburgh's Lincoln Place neighborhood, with DUI on Oct. 27. Dettlinger's Jan. 8 hearing before Bova was waived, and he faced that charge at the Allegheny County Courthouse on Feb. 26, where he was granted an April 5 ARD hearing.
- Baldwin police charged Dana Lynn Lachman, 30, of Hamlet Court in Baldwin Borough, with DUI on June 1. Lachman's July 31 hearing before Bova was waived, and she faced that charge at the Allegheny County Courthouse on Sept. 13. She then had an Oct. 26 pretrial conference, where she was scheduled for a non-jury trial to begin on Jan. 23. The trial was eventually canceled, and Lachman pleaded guilty to the DUI charge on Feb. 26. She was sentenced to complete a 20-month individualized program plan, 40 months of probation, a drug and alcohol evaluation, community service and safe driving school, and was fined an undisclosed amount.

AH you really amuse me with your rambling posts that do not even make any sense but I do not expect much from you. You still have not been able provide the "rules of engagement" but I am not surprised! What you do since you can not make an intelligent post with any facts is to throw insults. That is cool cause I have been called worse and I am sure by some better people (and I deal with usually the worst of the worst). I will not give out which jurisdiction I work but rest assured it is not in Century III and I will say it is not in Baldwin. You do have your right to free speech you just are not smart enough to speak intelligently. Maybe at least come up with so different material (Barney Fife) is getting old. As I have told cc before... Danny,
cc claims to be a "widder womin" with children. If that is not correct, well...I'd just say that it doesn't sound like anything I'd call a MAN, not a real MAN anyway.
I, too, find cc's repeated slams against the Baldwin Borough Police Dept. to be out of line, especially in light of cc's errors and outright lies posted. IMO all such unfounded slams should be immediately erased, but Patch chooses to permit her to slam our police (AH should note this, no one is silencing anyone here, not even those who may have earned that).
I am not in law enforcement either, but several family members have been, everything from traffic cop to FBI Anti Terrorist agents to MPs. None in Baldwin Borough, but I also respect the "men in blue" and their efforts to keep us safe.
I also appreciate the Patch reporting on police matters.

I appreciate all those that support my brothers and sisters. I chalk this up to my 15%-20% rule. In my years I have found that it is this ratio that appreciate police and those who do not. cc and AH fit into that 15%-20% that do not. There is not changing these buffoons opinions because there brains are so small and probably have had experiences where police have had to intervene somewhere in their lives and they did not agree with them. I have put nothing but facts supported by sources yet all I get from them is insults towards police. They can insult me all day I am used to it but those officers involved do not deserve comments that are being thrown out by these to boneheads. If they had facts to support their opinions that would be on thing but they come with nothing. AH can't provide the "rules of engagement" and cc claimed it was a state req for police to qual 2 times a year until I provided info straight from MPOTEC website to which cc did not respond. Anyhow lets wish the best for all officers involved that night.

Pitt#983, again you are so wrong in your thinking. I do have respect for Police Officers and if you read my comments I do thank the wonderful Police Officers we have in Whitehall, Castle Shannon, Baldwin Township, Bethel Park, South Park, County and State Police.
Baldwin Borough Police are at their finest (complement to them) actually as they are great at busting DUI's. When they accused an old man who had Parkinson's Disease, couldn't pass their Field Sobriety Test as he shook all over, passed a blood test but was still accused of DUI from Baldwin Borough Police. He and his wife lives on a limited income but he had to burn though money he had to hire an attorney and get those charges dropped against him. Why he was pulled over was a light on his car that was out, but they seen the shaking and harassed him about drinking even though he explained to them he has Parkinson Disease.
He isn't the first person that has been pulled over for a light out on their car and accused of DUI and even when blood test comes back negative, but they are still charged and people have to pay attorneys and fight to have these charges thrown out of court and their names cleared.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions which the 4 of you have no business condemning what others write, as they are their opinions. Non of you like when others tell you how wrong you are.
NE12Ukid I have seen you attack many people on the Patch, you correct every ones spelling and how they use grammar. Most (not all) of the people that write on the Baldwin-Whitehall Patch went to Baldwin Whitehall School District. If they didn't learn proper English as you are so great at pointing out; then there is a problem with the teaching in the school district. You are very rude to everyone that writes on here and you alone have chased many people away from the Patch.
Bob, I know your going to delete this, but it needs to be said as no one is perfect and everyone is entitled to their own opinions.
I spent 25 years in the Navy as a Military Police Officer and moved back to the Baldwin Whitehall area. I have had the pleasure also of being pulled over from Baldwin Police because of a tail light. @Matt A. Your calling us rude? that is really funny. An opinion is one thing, but the same person over and over continually states false information in reference to the BPD and I just think that is absolutely terrible and can almost be considered slander. Get over being pulled over by the BPD, if you have done nothing wrong then you shouldn't worry about it. I personally served my time in the military as well (Army). If your taillight/headlight is out, any officer in any jurisdiction has the right to pull you over. Its ok not to like LE, etc but when you start calling out departments and making false accusations against some individuals, that is just not right. I don't see any of us who are so called "rude", cutting up other officers in other jurisdictions. I wouldn't even think of being that classless and dirty. All of you who do not like BPD, take another route to get home, etc. if your so afraid of getting caught driving intoxicated. Also, if you read these articles about BPD, who is the one who always has to say something so negative and downright offensive? CC/AH and whatever other names they are under. Do you think I am going to sit back and not defend my community from someone that is not even part of ours? Its ridiculous. No one would even have responded if she/he didn't start bashing the BPD for no reason. Their name calling and jokes should not be tolerated and sorry, but that is my opinion as as you stated.... I have a right to share it.

I personally wish Bob would ban you from the site as you live in a make believe world. Writing on the Patch yesterday on March 5, 2013 is the first time I have written on here since "11:44 pm on Friday, December 7, 2012"
You need to go and get your facts straight before you accuse someone of something that they did not do, then again don't think you know how to handle true facts.

No, Matt, I am not a liar, and not pathetic. Just a human who made a mistake.
So sorry it got you THAT upset that you had to start calling names and trying to tell Bob what to do.
AH wrote what I quoted, AH is the name attached, my mistake to attribute it to MattA, who sounds like s/he may never get over it.
Again Matt A, I said it was a good idea for those who have such a problem with BPD to stay out of Baldwin, and it would be a good idea.

NE12ukid, when are we closing on you purchasing my home so that I can move out of Baldwin? I did not say anything bad about the police other than I was pulled over by them because of a light out on the car?? Again you lie.
Bob can you please tell me when you gave over policing the Patch to NE12UKid? I enjoy coming here reading and first time I write on here in a few month, I get attacked, This person is the reason that many won't comment any more and have quit reading the Patch.
Bob does a great job in writing articles.

Holy cow. I come on here to read articles and I come across childishness. I can say PITT#983 is the ONLY normal one on here and by the way knows what he's talking about when it comes to police work. Justice seeker seems like he/she has something against our wonderful editor Bob. If you don't like the patch go read something else. Everyone else ( mostly everyone ) seems like they need to google "Psychologists in the Pittsburgh area".

This will be the last post Iput on here regarding this subject as my inbox is filled. Matt A I to appreciate your service but I think you would need to go back a few articles to get a true understanding of where this has come from to get to this point. I only posted originally so some people would allow the process to work in regards to the investigation of Sgt Miller being shot and a subsequent officer returning fire. To hear people calling these officers "Barney Fife", calling for people to be fired, claiming they should just stick to DUI's and give them water guns, etc. I laid out facts to my points ( which I am not going to repeat) supported by case law so that those without working knowledge of the job might understand. From this point cc and AH began the name calling ( AH loves the word IDIOT while cc comes with pea brain, jackass, etc). You are right everyone is entitled to opinion but to degrade the profession as they have I am entitled to voice my objection. I know what I am talking about and would never insult anyone unless provoked as AH and cc do constantly. As an ending to this AH and cc there are no old officers left with 3 digit badge numbers. A friend's father was hired in 1968 and was issued one in the 1200's and he is retired. They do give them out but I will let you 2 figure out to whom. Please keep in mind that these officers leave their families every night with the chance of not returning.

As I have said before, incidents can become tense, uncertain and rapidly evolving and decisions have to be made within seconds. Try to keep this in mind next time something happens. PA is one of the best trained states for LE in the country Accidnts happen and LE act with what they believe at the time without the ability of 20/20 hindsight. Again my best to the Sgt and the other officers involved casue I am sure it is taking a toll on them. Oh and thanks Angel for the compliment.> 1*

MattA, let's get straight before I 'm done. YOU started the attacks, with this post:
I cannot believe how rude a few on the Patch are. Pitt#983, justice seeker, danny and of course NE12Ukid.
OK, you started it, you can have an opinion about 4of us if you please. Danny responded, as Danny also has a right to his opinion, and he said:
Your calling us rude? that is really funny. An opinion is one thing, but the same person over and over continually states false information in reference to the BPD and I just think that is absolutely terrible and can almost be considered slander.
..and...I don't see any of us who are so called "rude", cutting up other officers in other jurisdictions. I wouldn't even think of being that classless and dirty. All of you who do not like BPD, take another route to get home, etc. if your so afraid of getting caught driving intoxicated. No one would even have responded if she/he didn't start bashing the BPD for no reason.
And I agreed with part of Danny's post. Then.
FYI, Danny wasn't referring to YOU as that "same person". We all know who that person is, and unless you have yet another name in use, it's not MattA he was talking about there.
Matt A.

NE12Ukid, you are always attacking people and it is a shame that Bob has not removed you from here. You have been attacking people on the Patch and you alone have chased many people away from the Patch from reading it and from making comments. I bet when you were growing up everyone picked on you and now you hid behind a screen name picking on everyone. I feel bad for anyone that has to deal with you on a daily bases.
Bob I really wish there was an ignore button on here so that I wouldn't have to see the wanna be owner of the Patch name on here. A dislike button would work too.

So after I agreed with part of Danny's post about that person who doesn't even live in Baldwin staying out of Baldwin, YOU, MattA, for some reason decided that we were talking about you, and then you come up with all this nonsense about buying your house.
Should have ignored you from the start of your attack, didn't, but will now.
Have a great rest of your life, Jean.

I know... I said I was done commenting but this comment is not about the accidental shooting and I felt I had to share this. I drove through Baldwin tonight as I dropped off my son at a friends house then went down Glass Run on my way to the South Side. I made it all the way to the South Side and traveled back on Glass Run without getting stopped by the BPD. Surprisingly I guess when you obey traffic laws and inspection laws the BPD do not stop you. Who would have guessed huh!~1*

Or if they do, for a legit reason, you deal with it I say.
Once some years back, a family member was stopped because a light had burnt out. He told the officer he had not been aware of this, knew that it was functioning the previous day, and thanked him for alerting him to this problem.
He just said to get it fixed asap, and that was that.
All kinds of helpful things come from our police. :-)
A friend was stopped on her way to get the car inspected, she didn't drive this car much and the sticker was expired. She explained politely to the officer, and was told to bring the car around to the station within 48 hours to show that she had gotten the inspection taken care of. She did and that was the end of it.
Now if either of those persons had been intoxicated, the police would have gone further of course, and that would help keep the streets safer for all of us.

Yes exactly right NE12Ikid. Equipment violations are important and advising a motorist that taillights, brake lights, headlights, etc. are not operating properly is also important for safety. Most handle this with a warning to fix the problem. But if alcohol is detected then what does cc want BPD to do. Allow them to drive to Advanced Auto and ignore the fact that they are possibly impaired and could severely injury or kill themselves or others. It is just crazy to me that someone actually complains about getting DUI's off the road. Nuts!
cc
11:48 am on Saturday, March 9, 2013
Pitt#983 what happens when your driving and say your tail light or front light blows out while your driving. Do you carry extra bulbs and tools in your car so that you can pull over and fix it right on the spot? How do you not know some of these people were on the way to the auto parts store to get a bulb or garage to get there light fixed so they wouldn't be illegal.
Baldwin Borough Police are at there finest pulling people over for DUI's.
PITT#983
7:24 pm on Saturday, March 9, 2013
Maybe they are on the way to Advanced Auto but unfortunately LEO's are not trained in mind reading so they stop them. The question is not really about the equipt violation but driving after consuming alcohol isn't it? If not intoxicated then most likely warnings probably. Most people in most communities would be ecstatic that their dept was working to keep their streets safe, their children and other loved ones safe but again there is the 15%-20% rule I referenced before and that is you. Keep up the good work BPD and keep your community safe!~1*

It is one thing to pull someone over for weaving all over the road and giving them a test for for drinking, But when you do that to someone that is old and tell the officer that he has Parkinson, and shakes because of an illness, yet is told to do a field sobriety test, then taken to Jefferson for a blood test, passed with flying colors as no alcohol was in my neighbors system but yet still charged with DUI. Baldwin Borough is on a Witch Hunt. Yes people lie about illnesses but the blood test should of told them that he wasn't drinking and had no narcotic in his system.

cc it is not a "witch hunt" it is called being proactive. I am not wasting time trying to explain to you because it ultimately does not matter. I am only curious why you do not have a problem with Baldwin Twp. or Whitehall making DUI's which they do you know? Mcneilly and 51 are heavily traveled. I for one want my Twp. PD to keep my neighborhood, children, and anyone else safe and take intox drivers off the road. ~1*

Pitt$983 you can call it what you want but they are on a "Witch Hunt" trying to pull people over to bust them for DUI. Baldwin Township, Whitehall, South Park, Castle Shannon, Bethel Park, Mt Lebo, City of Pittsburgh do more than bust people for DUI's they want criminals out of the areas. Baldwin Borough is only good at busting DUI's.

@cc, we all know by now that your just trying to get some people fired up here with your accusations. You absolutely must have had an issue with BPD to even make such insensitive moronic statements. Why don't you request the list of cases that are resolved, etc. and get facts first before shooting off your mouth. This is public knowledge and the report is given at the council meetings.
PITT#983
3:39 pm on Tuesday, March 12, 2013
Danny cc is not worried about facts or finding out details about arrests. All arrests in Allegheny County are public knowledge and cc could do some research on this accusation but again cc is not worried about facts. I have the ability to look at any department in the county and look at arrests. Lets just say through my research cc is COMPLETELY off base about BPD. But it does not matter what is said or facts that anyone puts on this forum cc's response is the same, "Baldwin is on a witch hunt and is only good at busting DUI's." I expect nothing more.~1*

Like I said way earlier, this is a list of DUI arrest matters, not ALL arrests or all police action. If you recall, DUIs used to be published in the Pittsburgh papers. Now they seem to be published on the internet.
Has NOTHING to do with what the sum total of the actions of our police force are.
