I am hearing alot from different parents and my kids that the new lunches are very bad.
I am curious if anyone else is hearing anything?

From what I've been able to ascertain, Lou, the complaints are coming from a vocal minority. I've heard from others that they enjoy B-W's lunches.
What are your kids saying?

From what I hear, this year more children are packing lunches since they changed the lunch menu. heard there was a boycott on buying hot lunches at the high school and more kids down at sonoco getting junk food at lunch time

From what I am hearing more kids are wanting to pack also. My kids have been packing since the 2nd day now and I am hearing this from parents in Harrison also. It's hard to get a good answer as to why, other than the lunches are no good. I would prefer to hear a better answer that that vague response.
I was told the bread sticks don't taste good and also the refried beans had to be put on a taco salad.

Lou from what I am hearing from my daughter they went to healthy lunches, cut out using salt and spices and everything is bland tasting.

It's insane that there is now a maximum calorie mandate on school lunches. The elimination of fried foods and mandating that "leafy greens" be served twice a week is ludicrous for these kids. Schools should serve foods the majority of kids will actually eat. My kids ate school lunches for the first two days, looked at the menu going forward and begged for packed lunches.
School lunches, like everything else, should be dictated by supply and demand. Kids love french fries, don't give them spinach instead.
At the least, I hope the district is attempting to track what the kids do like to eat and will make an attempt to provide more of those foods. Or is the district more worried about what it is providing rather than the percentage of food actually consumed by the kids?
Smaller portions at school don't offset bad habits of poor diet and lack of activity learned at home. If you don't want your kids to be fat then make them be active when they get home. Put down the Wii remote and go outside!

Well they were called to an assembly at the high school about school lunches and basically told they were fat and need to eat healthy. Something about the school getting money if they switch to healthy eating. Now more students are packing lunches and the school will end up losing money.

My son has ate school lunches forever, hes in the 7th grade now. He sometimes would even eat 2 lunches, but he came home the other day and asked to start packing.

Oh just great... all the taxes we pay and the children can't learn to read or do math etc. and now they have to eat rabbit food and probably something that tastes like dog food? Oh but Baldwin High School looks so good when driving past. I think a lot better change soon or we will be seeing a lot more for sale signs out front in Whitehall.

Margaret agree but it isn't just Baldwin that is stuck with nasty lunches, it is all schools across the country There are a few boycotts going on Facebook now about boycotting school lunches across the country, the one group had over a million students and parents join and they want people to write letters to michelle about her nasty lunches she pushed forl

My daughter likes most of the new lunches. She said they are cooked better, and the chicken isn't pink inside like last year. She would like to see more selection, but said it's much better than Aramark.
